Thimphu, Bhutan
I am a Corporate employee at Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd,Thimphu. Initially from Laniri under Dungmin gewog, Pemagatshel and currently residing at Thimphu. Pemagatshel, meaning ‘Blissful Land of the Lotus’ is a rural district in southeast Bhutan. The Dzongkhag covers an area of about 1305 square km and shares its boarder with Mongar to the northwest, Tashigang in the northeast and Samdrupjongkhar to the southeast and southwest. About 53% of the total area is under forest cover, comprising mainly of coniferous and broadleaf species. With about 45% of total land area under cultivation, the Dzongkhag has a good percentage of arable land. Land holdings are however dominated by Tsheri cultivation with maize grown as a main cereal crop. The main sources of income include organges, potatoes, sub-tropical fruits and livestock products. The nearest market is Samdrupjongkhar. Hand weaving andsmall cottage industries (making of Dungs, Jalings and local Poe in Tshebar in Khar geog) are important off farm income generating activities.
